Azia Jonelle
Azia Jonelle (b. 1999, Toronto) is a second-generation Filipino artist whose work explores intimacy, cultural heritage, and identity. She holds a BFA in Photography from OCAD University and is pursuing a Museum and Cultural Management certificate at Centennial College. Jonelle's practice primarily revolves around lens-based art, often incorporating textiles, sculpture, and installations.
Jonelle's work has been featured in solo exhibitions, including "Bahay Kubo" at Gallery 44 in Toronto. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, such as "Gender and the Lens III" by the Feminist Photography Network and “Navigating Identity in the Asian Diaspora” by the Shoes Off Collective.
Her achievements include the OCAD University Photography Award and the Verant Richards Photography Award and Prize in 2022.
